So ultimately my question is this which Mod Manager is best for Skyrim SE, especially for a large load order? Now with some further investigation it seems that MO2 is actually an unfinished train-wreck and NMM might actually be the better option.

What has followed is a string of stability issues and hard crashes (Quite frequently of MO2 itself before it even launches Skyrim SE) that I thought would be a thing of the past, especially with my fairly light load order of less than 100 mods to start. So trying to learn from my original mistake I hunted down Mod Organizer 2 and decided to start with that rather than NMM.

With SKSE64 finally hitting alpha and the SE version of Legacy of the Dragonborn hitting full release it looked like the time was right to try this again. Now that sadly brought that epic play-through to an end, but there was a glimmer of hope, the announcement of Skyrim Special Edition and the advent of a true 64-bit client that could actually USE all 32GB of DDR4 RAM in my system, not just a tiny 4GB sip of it. That wall was the limitations of the 32-bit Skyrim client, namely constant memory usage limitation resulting in hard crashes. I then proceeded to get an even crazier load order of 250+ mods that I ended up dumping about a month or two of time into before it to started hitting a wall.

After some research I found out that Mod Organizer was a thing and switched over to it and it's magic of keeping your install directory clean while logically linking all your mods over it when you launch. I'm a long time Bethesda Game mod user (Since good ol' Oblivion) and like to go a little crazy when it comes to how much I try and pack into my load orders.Ī couple years ago I fell back into OG-Skyrim and with "Legacy of the Dragonborn" as a base I built up a 100+ mod load order of doom in Nexus Mod Manager that, while fun, was turning into a stability nightmare. TL DR What is the Best Mod Manager for High stability & Lots of Mods (including FNIS animation replacements & heavy script based overhauls)?
